The Last Days of the Miami Valley Cowboy (Menu No. 1)

by Directory of American Menu Hotlines

/

about

For a few years, the menu at the Magnolia Place Cafeteria at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio was read by a man who affected a very broad "cowboy" accent. The "Miami Valley Cowboy" really savored reading words like "sausage," and never failed to sign off with his signature farewell, "an' I hope yuh guys have a gooooood one." The hospital's underwent a renovation in 2016 and the menu hotline service was discontinued. This final recording stayed on the line for a few years after, but has since disappeared. It's preserved here for posterity.

From the Directory of American Menu Hotlines, a printed directory of over 80 active phone numbers of the best pre-recorded menu hotlines in the United States.

lyrics

Welcome to the Magnolia Place Caff-uh-turr-ia. It's Friday, September 30 2016. For breakfast we're gonna have oatmeal, grits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits and sausage gravy, baked French toast and bacon and sausage pattttties. For lunch we're gonna have homemade chili, corn muffins, along with the German bar, serving bratwurst, smoked sausage, German potato salad, potato pancakes, salted pretzels and the potato bar, along with the hot food brownie, and ranch chicken personal pizza. And I hope yuh guys have good one.
