Nothing remarkable about the dishes on this menu, but the date is notable: it was recorded March 10, a week after the first case of COVID-19 was detected in Alameda County, and the week before California (and the rest of the U.S.) went into lockdown. "The health risk from novel coronavirus to the general public remains low, and while COVID-19 has a high transmission rate, it has a low mortality rate,” reported the Alameda County Public Health Department that week. The senior center closed the following week, and this message has remained on the menu hotline since -- as of early 2022, nearly two years later, it remains when you call (510) 790-6610, extension 2.
